Sunshine in a Jar Books
To celebrate the anniversary of the launch of The Writing Spiral: Learning as a Writer I’ve decided to read the book on audio as a podcast.
My Aunt Pat calls them Book Jams. When I was getting ready for the Waterfront Festival I was planning on creating some small chapbooks…then on the Friday before the festival the chapbook became a “Book in a Jar.” We are Sunshine in a Jar, after all. It makes sense that we should have books in a jar. We sold them for $10 and they were a big hit!
Another amazing four days at the Cobourg Waterfront Festival in the Rotary Arts & Crafts tents! My aunt Pat Skene and I joined forces selling our books to readers of all ages. Our booth had a stunning view of the Cobourg Harbour and the midway on the Pier. We met many talented artists and artisans. We saw many generous friends and family who bought our new books or stopped by for a visit.
On October 19th, 2014 at Victoria Hall in Cobourg, Jessica Outram and Sunshine in a Jar Press launched The Writing Spiral: Learning as a Writer. A big thanks to Chuck Willemsen for taking and sharing these photos!! I wish now that I had thought of doing a group shot with all the contributors.
ANTANAS SILEIKA, author of Underground and Director of Humber School for Writers:
“The Writing Spiral is an inspirational and motivational book for those involved in the practice of writing. It deals with practical matters such as how to avoid getting stuck in a writing project, how to behave in a writers’ group, and how to go about finding a safe community in which to test ideas. But it is also a philosophical book that meditates on the meaning of writing in one’s life, learning how to see, and adapting to solitude and self-awareness. This text wonders about writing, and includes pieces by other writers involved in the same experience, and I recommend it for all those who wonder about writing too and want to get even more engaged in the life of writing. It will also help spur those just starting out on this path.”
