Iceberg. The metaphor of an iceberg fascinates me. It reminds me to look beneath the surface of things. I wonder how an iceberg relates to creative processes. This is the kind of conversation I’d love to have with my students, asking them to consider: I wonder how an iceberg relates to you. What can I see about the ways you work? What do we forget about? What forces are at work when you write? In writing a story, what do you reveal on the surface? What hides in the subtext?
